Most energy sector regulatory bodies in Asia are little more than a decade old. Whereas that may seem like a long time, formal economic regulatory methodologies have taken time to develop and implement, and the institutional experience in the region pales in comparison to that of similar bodies in some other countries. As a practical and commercial matter, economic regulation in Asia is still in its early days.
